Valencia Talks On The Agenda

Talks are planned in the coming days which could yet see skipper Antonio Valencia leave Manchester United in January. The Old Trafford right-back was not even at the team hotel after being left out of Jose Mourinho’s squad for Sunday’s 3-1 derby defeat to bitter rivals Manchester City at the Etihad Stadium.

Valencia has made just four Premier League appearances this term and last played in the Champions League loss to La Liga side Valencia on October 20, with sources behind the scenes hinting at a breakdown between the player and his manager.

The Ecuadorian was recently forced to apologise after liking on his social media a report that Mourinho was about to be sacked, prior to the storming comeback win over Newcastle United.

It is seemingly coming to a sad conclusion for the veteran South American, who is in the final year of his contract and has been plying his trade at the Theatre of Dreams since a £17m move from Wigan Athletic in 2009, making a total of 274 appearances in the process.

United insiders say club bosses have scheduled talks with his representatives in the next few days and a parting of the ways is on the cards for the 33-year-old who still feels he has plenty to offer and is open to an offer from another top-flight club in England.
