Van La Parra – Performances Not Enough For Terriers

Rajiv van La Parra admits good performances are not enough for Huddersfield as they are still waiting for their first win of the season. After narrowly avoiding relegation from the Premier League last term, the Terriers once again seem set for a season of struggle, as they currently sit 18th in the standings and have collected just two points from their five matches to date.

David Wagner’s side did produce an improved performance during last weekend’s 1-0 home defeat to Crystal Palace and were unlucky to emerge from that game with no points.

Van La Parra played 78 minutes against Palace, but he knows his side cannot rely on good performances and must find a clinical edge if they are to start rising up the table.

“We played a good game (against Palace) but playing good is not enough,” van La Parra told the Huddersfield Examiner. “It’s about scoring goals, and the fact we didn’t is what killed us.

“At least we gave a positive performance, though, and that is something we can build on. After that, we have to add goals to the way we play – then we will get more points.

“If you look at our performance, it was good from the team, but the game is about scoring goals and that’s what we need to add to the way we play.”
