Vermuelen Agrees move To Bulls

South Africa star Duane Vermuelen has agreed a deal to join the Blue Bulls in his homeland for the 2019 Super Rugby campaign. The Springboks number eight, 32, has been playing in Japan with Kubota Spears but will head to Pretoria in February for the new season.

Vermuelen a former Pumas, Cheetahs and Toulon star is looking forward to the move and believes it will be a “massive” year for the Blue Bulls.

He said: “2019 is going to be a massive year for us. The Bulls have always been a team that I have respected and I’m looking forward to joining the family.”

The Bulls high performance manager Xander Janse van Rensburg knows the signing will make others stand up and take notice.

He said: “Duane is an amazing rugby player, and is well respected around the world.
“We firmly believe that his abrasive style of play and experience will add immense value to our Super Rugby campaign next year. At the age of 32, he is a seasoned veteran, that just gets better with every season.”
