Vestergaard Enjoying Premier League Passion

Southampton defender Jannik Vestergaard admits he is enjoying the passion of Premier League supporters. The Danish international joined the Saints for a reported £18million during the summer having spent the majority of his career playing in Germany for the likes of Hoffenheim, Werder Bremen and Borussia Monchengladbach.

Vestergaard has quickly established himself as a regular at the heart of Southampton’s defence, starting three of their four Premier League games to date, and he admits he is enjoying the rigours of English football, particularly the passion of the supporters.

“I actually think there’s quite a big difference. In Germany, there is a great tradition that all clubs have a form of ‘Ultra-tribune’,” Vestergaard told Tipsbladet.
“In England, the entire stadium reacts if there is a decision they are dissatisfied with.If you do a good tackle, the whole stadium will stand up and start clapping.”

After helping Southampton to their first three points of the season against Crystal Palace last time out, Vestergaard will be hoping to retain his place in the starting line-up when Mark Hughes’ side play host to Brighton after the international break.
