Aston Villa have emerged as frontrunners to sign Everton winger Yannick Bolasie, who will be allowed to leave the club on loan. The 29-year-old has been told he is surplus to requirements by new Toffees boss Marco Silva and he is desperate to go out on loan and get some first-team action under his belt.
Boro appeared to be the hot favourites to snap him up on loan along with fellow Everton star Mo Besic, but it would now appear that Villa are closing in on the winger.
Reports claim that Villa have been locked in talks Bolasie over the last 24 hours and the player will now decide whether to head to Villa Park or the Riverside Stadium before the loan window closes this month.
Both clubs are hoping to mount a promotion push to the Premier League this season and the addition of Bolasie would give them a huge boost for the remainder of the campaign.
There is a chance that the deal could become permanent in January, but first of all Bolasie has to decide where he wants to play.
