Vinicius Junior will reportedly spend this season with Real Madrid Castilla after failing to break into the first team at the Bernabeu. The Brazil Under-20 international joined Los Blancos from Flamengo in a reported 40million euros deal earlier this summer and had been initially expected to figure on a regular basis, particularly following Cristiano Ronaldo’s departure.
However, it appears new Real boss Julen Lopetegui is likely to go with Gareth Bale, Karim Benzema and Marco Asensio as his main attackers, while Borja Mayoral will fill the void on the bench.
That means Vinicius, who was an unused substitute against Getafe last weekend, is unlikely to see much game-time during his first season with Real and reports are now suggesting the club think he will benefit from spending the year with their Castilla team.
Real Madrid Castilla play in the third tier of the Spanish league system and Vinicius could earn a recall to the senior team sooner than expected if he impresses with the Segunda Division B side.
