Pep Guardiola has confirmed Kyle Walker has recovered from a groin injury and could face Shakhtar Donetsk this evening. The right-back missed Saturday’s 5-0 win over Burnley after returning from international duty with England with the problem, but is now fit to play.

The fact that Walker has been included in the squad says it all according to Guardiola. “If they are here it is because they are ready to play,” the City boss said when asked about the defender.
Elsewhere, midfielder Ilkay Gundogan remains unavailable because of a hamstring problem, while Brazil full-back Danilo is also sidelined having injured an ankle on international duty.
Guardiola has no other fresh injury concerns as City look to build on the win over Hoffenheim last time out, which came following a shock defeat against Lyon in the Group F opener.
A return of at least four points from the next two matches against Shakhtar will make City’s progress into the next stage of the competition more or less certain.
