Neil Warnock does not expect to have Kenneth Zohore or Nathaniel Mendez-Laing available for Saturday’s trip to Everton. The Bluebirds boss was hoping that Denmark striker Zohore, who has been out with a calf injury, would be ready to return to action at Goodison Park following treatment over the international break.

“Ken Zohore has not responded really, we’re disappointed,” said Warnock, at his Thursday press conference. “It seems to be taking an eternity to get right. Jazz Richards has had a good week, I asked him to have an intense week and he’s had that and come back alright. He needed a full week’s training.”
Richards picked up a hamstring injury in training earlier this month and missed Cardiff’s defeat at Leicester City and subsequent home win over Brighton.
Nathaniel Mendez-Laing got an hour of action for the Under-23s this week, as did Gary Madine, but the Bluebirds winger is unlikely to feature against Everton.
“That was a good work out for the lads there and they both scored a goal,” added Warnock who was not optimistic about Mendez-Laing’s return prospects this weekend. “I don’t think so, we’ve got to be a bit careful with him at the minute especially with this busy period,” he added.
