Warnock Hails Duo’s New Partnership

Neil Warnock was happy with his new partnership of Bobby Reid and Danny Ward during Cardiff’s 3-2 defeat against Arsenal on Sunday. The Bluebirds’ boss had been an advocate of having just one forward leading the line during the side’s successful promotion-winning campaign last term.

However, with Cardiff going into their third top-flight match without scoring, he decided to mix things up and pitch in Reid alongside Ward.
It paid dividends in that Ward was on the scoresheet and City bagged their first two goals of the season against the Gunners, albeit in vain as they slipped to defeat.

But, when quizzed about the partnership afterwards, Warnock was pleased with the way his side played as an attacking threat, while he also picked out Victor Camarasa for praise.

He said: “I just thought this was the best way forward really. We’ve tried it with one up front in the Championship but at this level the players are too good and we’d never see the ball or create anything so we tried the system out in midweek.

“I thought Victor was super as well, and I thought their full-backs were as poor as they’ve been this season when you see how they’ve done so far.
“I thought we nullified that and created whenever we could.”
