Watford could be set to rival Fulham for AC Milan centre-back Mateo Musacchio in the January transfer window. Calciomercato claim there are two Premier League clubs keen on the 28-year-old, who has started all seven of Milan’s Serie A matches this season.
Fulham are understood to be leading the chase – which goes back to the summer when they reportedly failed with an attempt to land the ex-Villarreal centre-back.
Cottagers boss Slavisa Jokanovic knows he needs to strengthen his side’s backline in the January transfer window and it would be no surprise to see another offer tabled.
Musacchio was a star in Spain for Villarreal, helping the club finish in the top four and reach the Europa League semi-finals before making a £16million move to the San Siro.
Watford officials had tried to sign him in the past few months, but calciomercato indicate that it was on behalf of sister club Udinese.
Milan boss Gerraro Gattuso is a huge fan of the centre-back, however, and is understood to think he is intransferable.
