Weah To Fight For PSG Place

Timothy Weah claims he decided to snub a summer loan exit because he wants to gain more experience at Paris Saint-Germain. The 18-year-old United States international forward was handed his first senior outing by Unai Emery in the final game of last season.

However, the Spanish tactician departed to take over at Arsenal during the summer and there was talk of Weah being farmed out on loan to gain some regular first-team football.

But new boss Thomas Tuchel pitched him into action in the Trophee des Champions clash against Monaco and he repaid the faith shown in him with a first competitive goal in the 4-0 win.

Weah then scored his first Ligue 1 goal a week later in the season opener, a 3-0 win over Caen, and he is keen to stay around at least until the New Year to work alongside PSG’s star players and look to gain more game time.

He said: “I’m always ready to take on a new challenge but right now I feel that training at PSG with players like Neymar or Thiago Silva makes me better every day, and I think that’s the way to go.

“Playing in one of the best clubs in the world gives you a lot of confidence when you find your selection. I do not say it’s the same level, but you feel more confident when you played with players like Neymar, you know how they play, you’re with them every day, they’re like brothers.”
