Wheater Eyeing Silverware With Essex

Essex wicketkeeper-batsman Adam Wheater is hoping to help the club win further silverware after penning a new two-year deal. The 28-year-old made his first-class debut for Essex in 2008 but he opted to leave Chelmsford for Hampshire in 2013.

He returned to Essex in 2016 and played a key role in helping them win the County Championship last season, making three half-centuries and taking 23 catches.

Wheater has revealed his delight after committing for another two years and is hoping to add more silverware to their cabinet.

“I am delighted to commit my future to Essex County Cricket Club,” he told Essex’s official website.
“Since returning to Essex, I have been fortunate enough to experience success and I am keen, as we all are, to continue putting trophies in the cabinet.”
