Two of the game’s greats will face each other in January as Serena Williams takes on Roger Federer in the Hopman Cup mixed doubles. The duo will square off when the USA take on Switzerland on New Year’s Day in Perth, with 23-time Grand Slam winner Williams joining 20-year-old Frances Tiafoe to represent America.
Federer has Belinda Bencic as his partner and the pair will look to defend their title Down Under in the event that runs from December 29 this year to January 3, 2019.

Williams has not played since her controversial US Open final defeat by Naomi Osaka in September after which she was fined for continual outbursts against the referee.
It is not known if she will play before the Hopman Cup but the Florida resident is looking forward to the event.
“The Aussie fans are always so warm and supportive and the Hopman Cup has always given me a great start to the season, especially ahead of the Australian Open,” she said.
