Huddersfield youngster Sam Wood says he has high hopes for his loan move to Batley in 2019. The 21-year-old previously enjoyed spells with Oldham, Workington Town and Halifax but has impressed when called upon by the Giants in Super League, making six appearances in 2018.
Wood made his debut in 2016 but is looking for more regular rugby next year and will be hoping to establish himself at Mount Pleasant.
The Dewsbury-born star believes his move to the Championship club can give him the opportunity to develop the skills needed to become a top-quality centre.
On his loan move to the Bulldogs, Wood said: “It’s a good opportunity to get some regular game time and really compete for a spot in the first-team, it’s an opportunity that I’m looking forward to.
“It’s a good chance for me to be able to play some games for Batley and concentrate on my specialist skills as a centre to improve my game.
“I’ve been in and out of three different teams (this year) with Huddersfield, Workington and Halifax after picking up some injuries, so it will be really good to get some consistency in my game.”
