The 28-year-old Dane eventually prevailed 7-5 3-6 6-2 in two hours and 19 minutes and Wozniacki was happy with her performance.

“I am pleased how I kept cool,” She told BT Sport.
“I didn’t think I played badly in the second set, she just played really well. I had to refocus and keep doing what I was doing.”

Ukraine’s Elina Svitolina later overcame Karolina Pliskova of the Czech Republic 6-3 2-6 6-3 in the other White Group match on Tuesday.
