Yorkshire coach Andrew Gale says the Abu Dhabi T20, which starts against Lahore on Thursday, is part of next season’s build up.
The Vikings have a 14-man squad for the competition, played by six teams over three days, and Gale says the performances of his side could have a baring on his selection for the team next season.
Yorkshire arrived in the UAE on Monday evening but have trained just once, preferring instead to re-charge their batteries after a hectic end to last season.
“You only have to look at the calibre of cricketers walking around the hotel (all six teams are staying in the same hotel), there’s some big names here,” said Gale.
“You want to test your skills against some of the best players in the world.
“Every game counts. If they have a good game here, they put their names in the hat for next season.”
