Zouma Makes Chelsea Pledge

Kurt Zouma says he is determined to make the grade at Chelsea and his loan spell with Everton will help him achieve his goal. The defender spent last season on loan at Stoke City, who were relegated from the Premier League, and he will be hoping for a better season at Goodison Park after taking the decision to leave Stamford Bridge again.

The late arrival of new manager Maurizio Sarri did not help Zouma’s cause and he is hoping to use his time at Everton to prove he has what it takes to make the grade at Chelsea.
“Because the manager arrived late we didn’t know what was the plan of the club,” said Zouma. “At Chelsea there were a lot of defenders. I knew I needed to play regularly so I didn’t want to stay on the bench and wait for my chance after two or three months.

“He agreed with me. I spoke with him and I knew at Chelsea they had five central defenders already. He plays with four at the back, so there are only two who play.
“I didn’t want to wait and he completely agreed.”
Asked if he has considered quitting Chelsea on a permanent basis Zouma added: “No, not at the moment. Everton is a very good club. For me it’s a good chance to come in and I will give my all.”
