Inzaghi Blasts: No Scapegoats At Milan

Pippo Inzaghi has lashed out at the press for attempting to make some members of his AC Milan squad “scapegoats” for the team’s faltering form, stating that if any journalist has a problem with one of his charges, they can take it up with him.

The Rossoneri made a storming start to the new season, winning their first two games, only to then suffer a tame 1-0 loss to Juventus last weekend before being held at Empoli in midweek.

The form of Mattia De Sciglio, Daniele Bonera and Stephan El Shaarawy has subsequently been questioned without certain sections of the media – much to the fury of Inzaghi.

“Everyone has a desire to fight for this shirt and so I don’t want to hear people being named as scapegoats,” he told reporters on the eve of Sunday’s clash with Cesena.

“I don’t like these tricks. It’s too easy to take it out on one or two players.

“If you [the assembled press] have something to say, take it up with the coach, but let’s leave the players alone as they come off the back of a tough year.

Milan, who finished eighth last term, currently sit seventh in the standings ahead of the visit of 13th-placed Cesena.
