West Brom manager Alan Irvine has again backed Nigeria striker Brown Ideye to start scoring in the EPL soon after the club record signing fired blanks on Saturday at QPR.
The AFCON 2013 winner has yet to score in seven league appearances since arriving from Dynamo Kiev in the summer.
Ideye was selected ahead of Saido Berahino against Queens Park Rangers on Saturday for the second successive match, but the Nigeria striker failed to get a shot on target from the few chances that came his way in the game.
“He did very well,” said the head coach.
“It was a shame he didn’t score because he had a good chance early in the game which normally I would expect him to score.
“It’s been a long process getting him ready to play, he’s getting there.
“But there is still a little sharpness to come and that all important first Premier League goal.”
Ideye lasted for 69 minutes when he was replaced by Berahino in a 3-2 loss at QPR.
