Nigerian duo of John Ogu and Anthony Nwakaeme are delighted to have won the Israeli Ligat Al title with Hapoel Be'er Sheva – the first time in 40-years, Completesportsnigeria.com reports.
Both players starred as the Camels lifted the Israeli Premier League title for a third time in their history on Saturday after a 3-1 home victory over Bnei Sakhnin.
Hapoel Be'er Sheva last won the league title, back-to-back, in 1975 and 1976.
Goals from Maor Bar Buzaglo, Maor Melikson and Ben Sahar cancelled out Firas Mugrabi’s sixth minute strike in their season final day win over Bnei Sakhnin to end their 40 year wait.
Nwakeme says it was the best time to win the title in the club’s history
“God’s time is the best. Champions,” Nwakaeme wrote on his Instagram wall.
He scored 11 league goals (14 goals in all competitions) for Hapoel Be'er Sheva.
Meanwhile, Ogu dedicates the triumph to every individual who supported him from the start.
“Champions! God you are the best. I dedicate it to everyone who has supported me from day one. God bless you all,” Ogu who scored four goals for Hapoel Be'er Sheva wrote.
The league win means Be'er Sheva will contest the preliminary rounds of next season's Champions League.
