Super Eagles forward Alex Iwobi was an unused substitute for Arsenal who bounced back from their Champions League exit to qualify for the English FA Cup semi-finals with a 5-0 win over fifth-tier National League club Lincoln City FC at the Emirates Stadium, reports Completesportsnigeria.com.
The Nigerian, who overcame illness to make the bench, watched from the sidelines as goals from Theo Walcot, Olivier Giroud, Alexis Sanchez, Aaron Ramsey and an own goal from Luke Waterfall eased Arsenal through to their third FA Cup semi-final in four seasons.
Theo Walcott opened the floodgate of goals in the stoppage time of the first half and at the restart the Imps were overwhelmed by the dominant Gunners side.
Olivier Giroud doubled the lead ten minutes into the second half with a brilliant finish.
Lincoln skipper Waterfall unfortunately turned in Kieran Gibbs' cut-back into his own net to hand Arsenal a 3-0 lead in the 58th minute.
Sanchez made it 4-0 with 15 minutes left to play, beating two defenders before curling in his shot past Paul Farman for his first goal in the competition this season
Ramsey sealed an emphatic win for the Gunners in the 85th minute of the encounter after a brilliant string of passes in the box of Lincoln City.
Meanwhile the draw for the FA Cup semi-finals will take place on Monday after the Chelsea v Manchester United match at Stamford Bridge. Manchester City and Arsenal are in the hat after their wins in the quarter-final over Middlesbrough and Lincoln City respectively on Saturday.
The semi-final matches will be played on the weekend of Saturday April 22 and Sunday April 23, with both games taking place at Wembley Stadium
