Nigeria forward Alex Iwobi came on for the last 13 minutes for Arsenal who lost 3-1 to West Brom in Saturday’s early kick off game in the English Premier League, reports Completesportsnigeria.com.
Arsenal fans flew two airplane banners before the game, one asking Arsene Wenger to leave, the other suppprting the manager.
Two brilliant headers from Craig Dawson and another strike from Hal Robson-Kanu handed Arsenal their seventh defeat of the season.
The defeat further dampens the chances of the Gunners making the top four as they are now five points adrift of fourth placed Liverpool who face Manchester City on Sunday.
Iwobi came on for Alexis Sanchez in the 77th minute of the defeat. It was the Super Eagles star’s 23rd EPL game of the campaign.
West Brom took the lead after 12 minutes with Craig Dawson heading in Nacer Chadli’s corner but Sanchez restored parity for the Gunners three minutes later.
The Chilean calmly latched on to Granite Xhaka’s clever pass to fire home an equaliser.
Theo Walcott had a chance to give Arsenal the lead but fluffed his lines.
Seconds later, Petr Cech made the save of the game, parrying away Darren Fletcher’s shot.
The goalkeeper sustained a leg injury and was replaced by David Ospina in 38th minute of the first half.
In the second half, Robson-Kanu scored in the 56th minute of the encounter to make it 2-1, capitalizing on a defensive error.
Dawson made it 3-1, heading in Brunt’s corner in the 75th minute.
