Torino’s Nigerian midfielder Joel Obi missed his side’s 3-1 Serie A loss at home to Sassuolo on Sunday after copping an injury in the team’s warm-up just before the match, Completesportsnigeria.com can report today.
The Nigerian international who recently returned to action from a long layoff was initially included in the starting line-up but had to be replaced by Afriyie Acquah as a result of the injury.
The 24-year-old midfielder who joined Torino from Inter Milan in July 2015, has made ten appearances for the club this season in all competitions.
Obi’s career at club and international levels have been blighted by injuries, and he recently said his injury problems are over.
Obi is the highest earning Nigerian player in the Serie A. He takes home €500, 000 (N112m) every year.
