Joshua, Parker Set For £20m Payday For Title Bout; Parker Sure Of Victory

World Boxing Association and International Boxing Federation world heavyweight champion Anthony Joshua and World Boxing Organisation champion Joseph Parker are on course to earn a combined £20m from Saturday’s unification bout in Cardiff, Wales.

According to reports from Britain, both boxers’ camps spent months negotiating how they would split the purse and the prize money.

WBO champion Parker is set for a career-high payday on Saturday when he gets in the ring with British-Nigerian Joshua, irrespective of the result, although he insisted in the final pre-fight press conference that the money is nothing to him at this point.

“I’m going to beat him,” New Zealander Parker said.

“I’ve not decided how I want to beat him yet, I’ll see how I feel on fight night.

“These belts are mine. I feel it is my time, I am young, fast, strong and determined to win.

“I am not here for a payday, I am here to be part of history.”

When a deal was finally struck, the split is understood to have been agreed at around 67:33 in favour of Joshua, in recognition of his higher status and bigger draw.

The total purse for the fight is, if Joshua vs Parker pay-per-view sales hit expected targets, around £20m, meaning Joshua will pocket £13m which Parker takes home a career-high of £7m.

I hate it when a Nigerian plays for other country. But nevertheless, I want my namesake and compatriot AJ to win convincingly by KO.
