Zambia captain Rainford Kalaba insists the side can beat Nigeria and the other teams in their group to the Russia 2018 World Cup ticket despite their failure to qualify for the next African Cup of Nations finals in Gabon, reports Completesportsnigeria.com.
Aside from three-time African champions Nigeria, the Chipolopolo will also come up against Cameroon and Algeria in the group.
The midfielder is however unperturbed by the quality of opposition in the group and is confident Zambia can cause an upset by clinching the group's sole ticket.
"It's a difficult group no doubt but nothing is impossible in football," Kalaba told the Zambia Daily Mail.
"Nigeria, Algeria and Cameroon have quality players in their squad but we must not allow ourselves to be intimidated by them.
"If we put in our best, I'm sure we will create a major upset in the group. It's not something that is going to be easy but it is achievable."
The Chipolopolo will start their quest for a place in Russia 2018 when they host the Super Eagles of Nigeria in Lusaka in October.
