Former Super Eagles captain Nwankwo Kanu on Sunday offered words of encouragement to Togo striker Emmanuel Adebayor who has had his contract with Tottenham Hotspur terminated by mutual consent.
Togo international Adebayor announced the decision to end his contract with Spurs on Twitter.
“I can confirm that I have reached an agreement with Tottenham Hotspur to terminate my contract. I wish to thank the club and the fans,” he tweeted.
Fans of the north London showed solidarity to the striker who took up the number 25 jersey at former club, Arsenal, because of Nigeria’s Nwankwo Kanu.
Adebayor’s hero and two-time African Footballer of the Year, Kanu, showed brotherly understanding with his response to the contract situation.
“My brother Adebayor I wish you all the best in all. Keep going and don’t give up because you’re the best,” Kanu tweeted.
Adebayor has battled family crisis in recent times which has been pinpointed by those close to him as why his career have been negatively affected.
