Nigeria legend Nwankwo Kanu and England goalkeeper Joe Hart were full of praises for Kelechi Iheanacho on Saturday after the youngster starred in Manchester City’s 4-0 demolition of Stoke City on Saturday.
Iheanacho scored twice in the Premier League win, taking his tally in all competitions to 11 goals this season, his first in the first team. The Nigeria forward was voted man of the match.
Kanu, who was a FIFA U-17 World Cup winner like Iheanacho, hailed the City youngster moments after the match.
“Well done Kelechi Iheanacho,” Kanu wrote on Twitter moments after the match. “Happy to see you scoring and happy that you came from my academy. I’m proud of you.”
Hart, who presented the man of the match award to Iheanacho, said in his post-match interview: “Kelechi has worked really hard and is always ready to contribute. I’m really proud of him, especially as he came through the club’s academy. He’s a talented young player who we’re happy to have in the team.”
