Former Nigeria captain Nwankwo Kanu has expressed confidence that the Super Eagles will qualify for the 2017 AFCON in Gabon.
Reacting to the draws which was held on Wednesday in Cairo, Egypt, the former Eagles skipper advised that preparations for the qualifier should commence in earnest.
Kanu wrote on his Twitter page: “Nigeria group is not bad, so boys let’s show we’re still the best and top the group. Work starts now so keep supporting our team.”
The Eagles are grouped along with Egypt, Tanzania and Chad in group G, and they will kick off their qualifiers with a home game against Tanzania.
After winning the 2013 edition in South Africa, the Eagles failed to qualify for this year’s edition held in Equatorial Guinea.
It would be recalled that seven time champion Egypt have failed to qualify for the last three editions, Equatorial Guinea/Gabon 2012, South Africa 2013 and Equatorial Guinea 2015.
