Speaking at a press briefing in Lagos, Coordinator of the Kanu Soccer Academy, Canada, Abi Goodman, said the camp will offer the youngsters opportunity to interact with Kanu who is a United Nations Soccer Ambassador as well as showcase Nigeria’s rich cultural heritage in Canada while at the same time showcasing their talents.
“It will also open a window for the young players to exchange Nigeria’s rich culture to Canada which is the second largest country in the world,” Goodman said.
“It will also afford them opportunity to learn. All areas as security and travel insurance have been taken care of.
“It is a residential camp in which the young players will be afforded to the chance to visit places of interest.”
However, Pastor Onyebuchi Abia, Coordinator of Kanu Heart Foundation, KHF, revealed that participating players will pay $6,000USD, explaining that this will cover travel, accommodation and feeding while in Canada.
“It is not an elitist venture; that is why we’re as well asking for sponsors to come and cue into the program.
“The players can travel with their parents or guardians in which case we’ll take care of the parents or guardians’ feeding, travel and accommodation bills.
“Schools that want to sponsor their students, like five, six, or seven of them can also travel with their Games Master in order to ensure feeling of at home on the part of the players,” Abia explained.
