Nigerian striker Olanrewaju Kayode’s hope of opening his goals account for Girona continued as he fired blanks in their 4-1 away defeat to Eibar in the Spanish LaLiga on Thursday.
The game was Kayode’s 12th in the league without a goal yet since his loan move from Manchester City in the summer.
Kayode was brought on for Borja Garcia in the 58th minute.
Eibar had the perfect start as Takashi Inui gave them the lead in the first minute.
Charles doubled Eibar’s lead in the 10th minute before David Timor Copovi pulled a goal back for Girona.
Nine minutes into the second half, Inui scored his second goal to make it 3-1 to Eibar while Joan Jordan put the game beyond doubt when he scored in the 90th minute to end the game 4-1.
The defeat was Girona’s sixth of the season and they are currently 10th on 23 points in the league table.
