Kayode Happy To Return In Shakhtar’s Win Against Chernonomorets

By Adeboye Amosu:
Nigeria forward, Kayode Olanrewaju,is delighted to be back in action for Ukrainian side, Shakhtar Donetsk following his lengthy spell on the sidelines due to injury, reports Completesportsnigeria. com.

Kayode reportedly sustained an injury during a training session in July which forced him to miss Shakhtar’s opening eight league games of the campaign.

The former Austria Wien of Austria striker made his first appearance of the season, coming on as a substitute in the 71st minute in Shakhtar’s 3-0 win over FC Chernomorets Odessa on Sunday.

The 25-year-old took to Instagram to share his happiness at his return to action.

“Our Transformation is a result of God’s patience, there is a purpose in every trial, storm and battle. My testimony is on the way. Back, fit and strong!,” kayode stated.

Kayode first linked up with Shakhtar on loan from English Premier League club, Manchester City in February and scored three goals in eight appearances for the Miners winning the
Ukrainian Premier League and Cup titles.

He signed a permanent five-year deal with the club at the end of the season.

If Olanrewaju Kayode is to fulfil his ambition of being a Nigeria International of repute, the coming months could be crucial.

But for an ill-timed move away from the Austrian league, where he scored goals aplenty, only to find himself on a barren run in Spain; he could perhaps have made Nigeria’s squad to the world cup in Russia.

Now in Ukraine, with the prospect of making an impact domestically and in European tournaments, the chances of playing for Nigeria are again enhanced for the Ibadan-born forward.

    But will it happen?

I don’t think has always been a favourite of Gernot Rohr who has never been known to change his ways easily – even if those ways are seen not to be working.

With the likes of Simmy, Iheanacho, Ighalo, Musa and even Iwobi as options open to the German tactician, Kayode’s chances of breaking into the team seem remote.

They don’t even have to be doing particularly well for Rohr to select his favourites – he will select them anyway.

But all hope is not lost. If Kayode continues to work hard with the manifestions being stellar performances and plenty of goals for Shakhtar Donetsk, whilst staying injury-free, then he will be hard to ignore – even for a coach who is not easily amenable to change.
