Keshi Loses Out On South Africa Job

–Mashaba named new Bafana Bafana coach
By Sab Osuji:

Nigeria coach Stephen Okechukwu Keshi has been ignored as South Africa FA named Shakes Mashaba for the vacant Bafana Bafana job, Completesportsnigeria.com reports.

Keshi, a former Nigeria captain and winner of the 2013 AFCON held in South Africa was seriously linked with the job since March alongside Carlos Queiros who took Iran to the World Cup in Brazil.

With reports earlier emerging that Keshi had been handed the job in June during the World Cup, SAFA CEO, Danny Jordan rubbished such claims.

Keshi, a former Nigeria captain nicknamed Big Boss is on the crest of retaining his Super Eagles job with contract extension talk already ongoing.

SAFA Saturday chose to remain faithful with their local coaches when they named Mashaba as new Bafana Bafana coach during a board meeting.

Mashaba’s immediate task will be to raise a team that could overhaul Nigeria’s Super Eagles in September when both countries meet in a Nations Cup qualifier in South Africa.

Completesportsnigeria.com reports that South Africa is yet to defeat Nigeria in any major football tournament.
