Keshi: I Was Never Sacked

Keshi: I Was Never Sacked

–Big Boss says he was only relieved of his Eagles job

Former Super Eagles coach Stephen Keshi has declared that he was never sacked by the Nigeria Football Federation, NFF, as being widely circulated.

While reacting to the issue at the Kwara state stadium during the final of the 28th edition of the All Financial Institutions Football competition on Saturday, Keshi said that his contract with the NFF ended with the 2014 World Cup in Brazil, but was not renewed by the football house, stating that as a result, there should be no reason to claim that he was sacked.

“I was never sacked by the NFF. It’s only if you have an existing contract that you can be sacked”, Keshi said.

Keshi, a Central Bank of Nigeria (CBN) Ambassador, who was Guest of Honour during the final between CBN team and First Bank FC said that the present position of the Super Eagles in the 2015 AFCON race is not as bad as Nigerians are taking it, as the team can still qualify for the biennial soccer showpiece in Morocco.

“Super Eagles can still qualify for the 2015 AFCON. They have the chance, because the group is still open. They only need to work harder”, he said.

Nigeria is in the third position in group A with four points, trailing group leaders South Africa which has eight points and Congo which has seven. Sudan, the fourth in the group have three points.

Nigeria will play away to Congo on November 14th, in a match which holds the key to Nigeria’s qualification for the competition, and home to South Africa on the 19th of the same month.

He however, added that the team needs a lot of encouragement from Nigerians to make it to the competition.

On this one, Keshi is right. He was never sacked, just that his contract was never renewed after stated in the media that he wanted a huge raise, then accepted 6 million, then started that he was ready to continue as ready to continue as the Eagle’s Coach. Then again stated that he was not desperate to continue because he has other countries that need his service.

Infact, the man has said too many things. Some conflicting, others contradicting.
