By Mumini Alao in Campinas:
THE Super Eagles were sweating it out on the training ground on Friday evening while The Netherlands were handing out a comprehensive 5-1 demolition to world champions Spain in one of the early shocks of the 2014 FIFA World Cup here in Brazil.
After the Nigerian team finished their work-out session which lasted about one and a half hours, coach Stephen Keshi couldn’t hide his amazement at the lopsided result.
“Yeah, I just heard about it (the result) and it is a very big surprise,” he told Complete Sports at the Guarani Football Club stadium in Campinas, venue of the Eagles training session.
“It just reminds you that this is the World Cup and no team can take anything for granted, not even the defending champions.”
The Eagles departed Campinas for Curitiba on Saturday morning ahead of their first game against Iran on Monday.
