Super Eagles coach, Stephen Keshi has expressed his dismay at the inability of his team to defeat a defensive minded Iranian side after dominating play in their first Group F match of 2014 World Cup on Monday night.
However, the Big Boss remains positive that his team will improve in their next match against Bosnia-Herzegovina on Saturday.
“I was shouting to the players to move the ball quickly, but they weren’t responding. Iran came to frustrate us with a defensive play and they succeeded, ” Keshi states.
“These things happen in football when one team comes to defend and not really to play. We tried to break them down but we couldn’t find a solution.
” I’m disappointed because I know we should have done a lot better. Nigerians should not lose confidence in us. We hope the Bosnia game will be more open.”
On Godfrey Oboabona who was forced out by injury and was replaced by Joseph Yobo in the 29th minute, Keshi hoped for positive medical check.
“The doctor is checking Oboabona’s injury. We hope it is not too serious so he can play in the next game,” Keshi enthuses
