Liverpool boss Jurgen Klopp has keyed into the expectation of the club's loyal fans who expect them to win their Sunday game against Newcastle United.
Klopp expressed hopes of a positive result during his press conference on Friday ahead of the game at St James' Park.
"If people expect us to win on Sunday, then we are expecting to win, too. But we have respect."
Klopp says that playmaker Philippe Coutinho is still short of full fitness after sustaining a hamstring injury in the 4-1 win over Manchester City at the end of November.
It had been suggested that the Brazilian was going to appear in the League Cup semi-final against Southampton on Wednesday.
"We were too optimistic. Sometimes happens like this. He can train nearly normally but doesn't feel totally comfortable," says Klopp.
On Jordan Henderson, Klopp revealed that the captain could return to the starting line-up on Sunday against Newcastle United.
The midfielder came on as a substitute in the wins over Swansea and Southampton.
“Hendo has made a big step in the last few weeks and that is the best news. He feels good and that’s good for us.”
Liverpool who blew Southampton apart on Wednesday night 6-1 in the quarter-finals of the Capital One Cup are sixth in the table while Newcastle are just above Aston Villa, 19th in the table.
