Liverpool manager Jurgen Klopp has stated that his side will try to secure a positive result in their UEFA Champions League first-leg round of 16 clash away to FC Porto to make the reverse fixture at Anfield a bit easier.
Porto will host Liverpool inside the Estadio Do Dragao on Wednesday in the first leg before visiting Anfield on March 6 for the reverse fixture.
Speaking in his press conference on Tuesday ahead of the game against Porto, Klopp however predicted a difficult first leg clash in Portugal.
“We believe in Anfield. We know it’s a place where the crowd can make a difference,” Klopp said.
“But to use that in the second game we need to do the job in the first game.
“We are looking to get a result to give us a chance in the second game. But it will be hard, we know that.”
Klopp, who led Borussia Dortmund to the final of the 2013 UEFA Champions League where they lost 2-1 to Bayern Munich, added: “On a good day we are really strong, but we need to be outstandingly strong to get a result against Porto.
“They are very experienced, very physical, hard, good footballers, good plan, it’s quite a job to do. That’s all we are focused on.
“The draw was a long time ago, we’ve had a long time to wait for the next round. Last summer we dreamt of it and now we are here.
“It feels good and everything is prepared. Last 16 means 16 really, really good football teams face each other.”Watch The Premier League Live!! with EXPRESSVPN the #1 Trusted Name in VPN
