Knee Injury During Training Could Delay Emenike’s Las Palmas Debut

By Adeboye Amosu: Nigerian forward Emmanuel Emenike has suffered an injury in training which could further delay his debut for Spanish La Liga club Las Palmas, reports Completesportsnigeria.com.

Emenike joined Las Palmas on a six-month loan deal from Greek club Olympiacos on the final day of the winter transfer window in January and is yet to make his official debut for the club having lacked match fitness.

According to a statement on the club’s official website, the striker has been under treatment for several days after feeling sudden pain in his right knee during training on Thursday.

“An MRI scan was conducted the same night which indicated the presence of an osteochondral lesion at the level of the internal femoral condyle and swelling of the internal lateral ligament,” Las Palmas explained.

“Since then he has been under treatment to reduce the inflammatory process. Given the nature of the injury, it is difficult to indicate when he will be back in training although it is expected that it won’t be too long”

Oghenekaro Etebo, the other Nigerian who also joined the club on loan in January, has featured in two games since his arrival.

He was voted into the LaLiga team of the week after a brilliant showing in his debut game against Malaga last week.
