Koeman Praises “Talented Kid” Ebuehi, Tips Him To Succeed At Benfica

By Adeboye Amosu:
Dutch legend Ronald Koeman has heaped plaudits on Nigeria defender Tyronne Ebuehi for his impressive performance in last Sunday’s Dutch Eredivisie clash against Koeman’s former club Ajax Amsterdam, reports Completesportsnigeria.com.
Ebuehi who has been linked with a summer move to Portuguese giants Benfica  shone brilliantly in the game which ended in a 0-0 draw and has received rave reviews for his performance.
The 22-year-old specifically marked out highly-rated young forward, Justin Kluivert, son of Dutch legend Patrick Kluivert, in the game and restricted his performance.
“He played in a big stadium, against Ajax, that everyone was watching him and took care of the message. He knew that all the attention was focused on him and survived in a very complicated situation,” former Ajax Amsterdam and Barcelona star Koeman, who recently coached Everton, told Portuguese online outlet O Jogo.
“It shows his character. He will be a good addition for Benfica, good value and an added value.
“He’s a very talented kid. He has speed and  intelligence. He was good against Ajax, especially against Kluivert, who is a very technical player.
” I remember just a dribble from Justin. Justin is very fast, Ebuehi managed to catch up and lock Justin. We did not see Kluivert during the whole game, so we can say that he did a great job.”

this boy is our future. I think we need to use him more. shehu abdulahi is a very good player but ebuehi is better, faster, and more skillful.

Hopefully the Dutch don’t take him back. Technicality, not having played a competitive game for Nigeria he is still available for the Netherlands. Nigeria’s luck is that we’re going to the World Cup and the Netherlands are not

Baba..he can’t go back…he as played for naija already ..and as already penned down …is signing to Nigeria… Because Nigeria called him first

  • Our future player

  • Regardless of who’s coaching the super eagles, players selection always come down to politics. This will never change. Ebuehi and Idowu should be our starting fullbacks in a perfect world. However, they will be on the bench in Russia while Nigerians laments poor fullback display. They have to follow the quota-whatever that is. This is the main reason I think Nigeria will not make it out of that group.

    • @ Ubah. Don’t get personal. If you disagree, leave your own comment. I stand 100% by what I said, this team does not have world players. However, its a talented team if the pieces fit. The coach needs to feature the best eleven players, for this version of eagles to qualify from a group with Argentina (favorite to win the group), Croatia (the best team in the group), and Iceland (who ran through the European qualifications with breeze). So you need to shut up with your semi final nonsense.

  • This is a point blank truth, if quota system is used in lieu of current form coupled with experience Nigeria is as good as going for jamboree in Russia. How on Earth could SE selection emanates from quota system. It will spell doom thereafter Nigerians would blame Rohr for unnecessary faults forgetting that Nigerian mentality is our greatest undoing. Period

  • I have always been saying it,this guy is by far better than Sehu Abdullahi in term of everything. No disrespect to Sehu Abdullahi .We all saw how he performed against Argentina when he came on for sehu. I just hope the technical crew will take away sentiment apart and give him more playing time in our pre world cup matches so as for him to blend with the team.

  • Rohr should have nailed the international future of Tyronne Ebuehi by featuring him in our last World Cup qualifying match,i.e the match against Algeria. It would have served various purposes.
Nigeria had already booked a spot in Russia and Ebuehi should have been fielded ahead of Shehu Abdullahi.
Fielding Ebuehi would have sealed his international commitment to Nigeria because by that,he would have played in a competitive game for Nigeria. We should not forget the fact he is yet to play a competitive game for Nigeria and he can still swing his international commitment to another country. This will become more of a possibility of he didn’t make it to the world cup with Nigeria, which is very likely. We shouldn’t lose sight of the fact that Shehu Abdullahi is ahead of him in the pecking order as regards the right back position and with Ola Aina most likely to make the cut to the world cup because of his versatility, plus Brian Idowu highly favoured to make the list as well because of his interpreter role and versatility as well, the other defender slots are reserved for the central defenders, not forgetting that Gernot Rohr highly favours Elderson Echiejile. Then Ebeuhi’s chances of booking the plane to Russia are very slim. With this, he would keep his international options open.
Moreover, if he had been featured in the match against Algeria,it would have spared us the blushes of our point deduction saga as a result of fielding the ineligible Abdullahi.

  • I am 100% sure that he will make the team to Russia not doubt about it. judging by his current performances for his club. He is one of few Nigeria players doing well at their respective club side presently. even the so called Sehu has not been consistent for his club of recent.

Ebuehi is a quality player I see him ahead of Ola Aina and Elderson, Ebuehi plays at the left back, the only reason he stayed back in the Dutch league is for him to play regularly so he can make it to t world cup, insteady of moving to a bigger league in portugal with benfica, he has speed and he can dribble, looking at our last match against Argentina, he was very fantastic and I see no reason why he should not be on that plane, Elderson plays in division 2 at the moment.. honestly I hope and I know he will make the list.

am not suprise about his performace because i saw its at our last match against argentina where he totally locked up de-maria..for now, i have not see any player that will displace ebuehi fromt that position
morever we need a player that is so fast and intellengent to support balogun due to his inabillity to run fast ..GOODLUCK SE

I still doubt Rohr”s confidence in this guy. Abdullahi had no reason playing in that match against Algeria bcos we had qualified and Ebuehi was waiting to be capped. To colour the mess, Abdullahi was ineligible to play yet the coach fielded him at expense of this boy who was not only eligible but also the only natural right full back in that team. We are so lucky Holland is not going to the WC, otherwise, we would have lost him with the kind of attention he’s receiving lately. A lesson for the future, to the coach and our football administrators. Sentiment will take us nowhere.

  • @ papafem i totally agree with you. the guy is technically good and I belief the coaching crew have seen. even how journalist is not even helping the matter after his exploit in that match against Argentina. He deserves more commendation/publicity but cos of sentiment they will never do that. so at complete sports editors and other take note.

Ebuhi is better than Abudulahi shehu. So if he didn’t make the team to the World Cup then we are just deceiving ourselves and our going to the World Cup will be business as usual. He is one of the Nigerian players who plays every second of their club matches. Coach Rohr should shine his eyes well well.

  • I’m happy people are beginning to see this. Ebuehi is better than not only shehu, even aina. I’ve been following the progress of this guy for long. Rohr called him for many times in the qualifiers without featuring him. All those friendlies..against Senegal, Corsica, Togo etc this guy only featured once before 2nd half comeo against Argentina. I just pray he’s invited for the up coming friendlies I trust him, he’ll surely prove himself. Onyekuru is suffering the same fate.

if you say that ebuehi played against South Africa, that means you didn’t watch the match or you don’t even know the guy called ebuehi, it was chidozie awaziem that played number 2 position and elderson played number 3

@ all, I hope Rhor will take his time to digest some of these helpful hints and coments. Yet I understand the view and opinions of Mr Rhor in his plan to give Ebuche gradual integration into Africa’ styles of play considering Ebuche tender age. Rhor major reason was to save and preserve the young man talent for future. The true of the matter could be justified in the reality of versness of Ebuche in our won game with Agentin and his displayed againt players of high profiles and pedigres. Hence age is no longer a reason for Ebuche not given consideration ahead of others players he edged. Please Mr Rhor listen to our’ submissive suggestion. Is a voice in wilderness to make the way right…

  • chuks i dont think you re in nigeria.
