Virat Kohli’s unbeaten 82 has dragged India back into the second Test with Australia as they reached 172-3 at stumps on day two.
The skipper walked to the crease in just the sixth over with his side 8-2 but he steadied the ship and struck nine fours in another classy exhibition of batting in Western Australia.
He was well supported by Ajinkya Rahane, who is still there on 51 and has hit six fours and one six to date, with both batsmen taking advantage of some ill-directed short-pitch bowling.
The Aussies began day two on 277-6 and added a further 49 runs, with captain Tim Paine making 38.
Ishant Sharma was the most successful of the tourists’ bowlers, returning figures of 4-41 and the home pacemen then took his lead to send back KL Rahul for two and Murali Vijay for a 12-ball duck.
The wickets fell to Josh Hazlewood and Mitchell Starc respectively and it was the latter who struck again to remove Cheteshwar Pujara for a painstaking 24 with the score on 82, but that was as good as it got for the Baggy Greens.
Kohli and Rahane have added 90 to date, with India 154 runs adrift and with seven wickets still intact, and the duo will both have eyes on three figures tomorrow to try and establish a sizeable lead.Fastest Paying Betting Site in Nigeria: Grab your 140% First Time Deposit Bonus Now — www.Sportybet.Com Copyright © 2021 Completesports.com All rights reserved.
