Athletic Bilbao’s Aymeric Laporte will undergo his medicals on Monday ahead of a reported £57m move to Manchester City, reports in Spanish media have claimed.
The defender was dropped – after intially being picked – from Jose Angel Ziganda’s side which drew 1-1 with Eibar on Friday night, fueling speculations that City could be closing in on their record signing.
According to El Correo, a newspaper in Bilbao, City will pay the £57m for Laporte on Monday, the same day as his medical.
Laporte will be immediately available for selection but City’s clash with West Brom in the Premier League on Wednesday night could come to soon for him if the big-money deal is completed on Monday.
Realistically, the 23-year-old will look to make his debut for City when they take on Sean Dyche’s Burnley at Turf Moor next Saturday afternoon in the top flight.
Pep Guardiola’s men currently sit 12 points clear of second-placed Manchester United with just 14 games remaining.
