The late Raymond King, who died on January 1, will be buried on the 9 February, 2018 at his residence in Abeokuta, Completesportsnigeria.com (CSN) reports.
Former Nigeria and Abiola Babes goalkkeper King died at the age of 52 after a brief illness according to his ex-teammate Tajudeen Disu.
Disu revealed to Completesportsnigeria.com that the Christian wake will be held at the MKO Stadium, Abeokuta while a novelty match between ex-players of Abiola Babes and IICC Shooting Stars will be played in honour of the deceased player.
“A meeting with the family was held in Lagos and the arrangement for the burial has started in earnest. We are hoping to get some support from the government of Lagos, Oyo and Ogun states to rally round the family so Raymond King can get a befitting burial,” Disu told CSN.
“A committee headed by Segun Odegbami has been set up to make a budget for the funeral arrangements.”
Completesportsnigeria.com reports that the late King died at the Lagos State University Teaching Hospital just before he was about to receive treatment.
He was a member of the Flying Eagles squad in 1979/80 and he made his name in football playing for Abiola Babes and Shooting Stars of Ibadan.
