Lawal: Keshi Was Right To Reject Me

Lawal: Keshi Was Right To Reject Me

–Kaduna United General Manager leaves Eagles camp
By Richard Jideaka, Abuja:

Ex-international, Garba Lawal has said that Super Eagles Head coach Stephen Keshi might be right in his decision to reject him as a Coordinator of the senior national team.

Lawal who was appointed the Coordinator of the Super Eagles by the new executive of the NFF led by Amaju Pinnick had his appointment rejected by Keshi whose sack was reversed by the presidency.

The Kaduna United General Manager said that Keshi took his criticism of the Eagles under him personal adding that it should not be because what he did was for the good and development of the national team.

“As a former Super Eagles player, I cannot keep quiet when things are not done in the proper way. I will always say my mind no matter who is involved. I did not attack Keshi as a person but his technical savvy. What is bad Is bad and posterity will not forgive us if we keep quiet,” he stated.

The former Julius Berger player however told Complete Sports that he left the camp in the interest of peace and to avoid any form of distraction in the Eagles quest to qualify for African Nations Cup in Morocco adding that he will continue to pray for the team.

“I wish Keshi well but I will not stop speaking my mind for the good of our national teams. It is okay I step aside for our country’s sake” he concluded.

Thanks Mr. Lawal, my Allah bless you. Whether they like it or not, the truth will reigns. This is how matured and intelligent person should behave. No excuse for Keshi to delivered. We all knew it that we don’t have a great coach while we don’t have a good team that we can be proud of under Keshi era. Finger crossed. God bless Nigeria!

GARBA LAWAL, YOU HAVE DONE WELL BY YOUR MATURITY. KESHI HAS ALWAYS BEEN LIKE THAT FROM HIS YOUTH AGE AND HAS REFUSE TO GROW UP. WE MUST ALWAYS SAY THINGS THEY WAY THEY ARE INSTEAD OF TRYING TO HIDE THE TRUTH. KESHI HAS ALWAYS TAKE THING PERSONAL AND LACK THE SPIRIT OF SPORTSMANSHIP. ANYWAY NIGERIA IS OUR COUNTRY AND WE CANNOT BUT PRAY FOR HER. GOD BLESS THE SUPER EAGLES OF NIGERIA, GOD BLESS NIGERIA.

Lawal it’s good you left the camp for peace to reign, ‘cos there will be no trust.
Next time, kindly choose polite words while criticising, especially when the person at the receiving end is a senior colleague.
Every patriotic Nigerian wasn’t happy and was criticizing, the Eagles poor run, but your language was sometimes too direct on Keshi’s person.

  • Look at this reject Garba Lawal you were doing what you were doing because of envy. How many criticism did you throw at Lagarback your master when he was destroying the team? How many tongues did you raise against Samson Siasia who drove the nail in the coffin and buried the Eagles? You did what you did because majority of you so called ex-footballers are envious of what Keshi has achieved as coach not just in Nigeria but internationally. Please go and manage your middle of nowhere club before running down others who are focused. Criticism is good when it is constructive but not the one borne out of envy.

  • Envy… lol….

@oga, @Chuks and @Marsh and other Keshi’s blind supporters. It should be noted that Keshi has got virtually everything he asked for leading up to the very very crucial qualifier away to Congo. Lawal is Out and that is the correct decision for the interest of Nigerian football. I encourage well meaning knowledgeable men of football like Ikpeba and Garba Lawal to analyze, criticize the questionable decisions Nigeria’s Coaches and Administrators make. This will make those running and coaching our football to know that eyes are on them to point out any wrong doing.

@oga, and @Marsh are attempting to trivialize and diminish the football knowledge and accomplishments of Ikpeba and Lawal. I repeat it again that Ikpeaba’s football career and exposure to top level football is superior to that of Keshi while they were in Europe. So while Keshi should be respected as coach, Ikpeaba knowledge of the game entitles him to analyze and critisize Keshi or any other Nigerian coach.

Ikpeba played regularly and excelled winning multiple trophies, awards and regularly reaching the advanced stages of the Champions league and Europa Cup(UEFA Cup) while playing for Monaco under legendary football coaches like Wenger and Tigana. Ikpeba played regular first team football in a Monaco team that included the likes of Klinsman, Djorkaeff, Enzo Scifo, Emmanuel Petit, Thuram, Sonny Anderson, a young Thiery Henry and David Trezeguet. Ikpeba is the 3rd or 4th highest goals scorer in the History of Monaco FC, ahead of Legendary attacking players Like George Weah, Klinsman(2 years at Monaco), Djorkaeff, Shabani Nonda, Sonny Anderson, Adebayo, Henry, and Trezeguet. Apart from Klinsman all these players spend 4 to 6 years at Monaco. In addition to playing for Monaco in France, Ikpeba also Played about 100 games in Belgium(he won the Best African Player in Belgium), and about 40 games for Dortmond in Germany

Yes Keshi and the eagles coaches should be given respect, however Lawal and particularly Ikpeba are entiltled and highly knowledgeable to criticize any Nigerian coach. It is shocking that you guys think otherwise. Some of the white football pundits and analyst you listen to on TV did not accomplish what Ikpeba did in Europe.

@Oga n other so called keshi supporters…one thing u should ask urslf is where these men criticizing him when he was appointed after the dismissal of Siasia?…where they not bcking him even after d nations cup triumph?..tht is an evident that they don’t criticize him becos of envy…these are our ex national team players that serve this country with all their heart n still love d game of footbal because they played it to the highest level scoring in the world cup too…it therefore behooves on them to speak up when things are not going on well…not only them JJ Okocha complained during d world Cup, Sunday Oliseh hs never hidden his annoyance either even Austine Eguavon too and many other internationals…..Even d blind knws the team is not d supper eagles we hv alz knwn over d years until recently….In the days of Siasia he failed to qualify us to the Nations cup as such he was fired but his style of attacking football was far more better than what we see today….sentiment apart..let’s call a spade a spade..How can a coach be having dispute and quarrel with his players as if they are kids and would prefer to put his personal issues above that of over one seventy million Nigerians?…that is very pathetic…last season Mourinho has a personal issue with Hazard but that didn’t stop him from using him…even when he came late to training his punishment was just missing one match..most recently Ozil of Arsenal came out to tell d world he isn’t enjoying d position d coach is using him…Arsene wenger never had issues with him rather he came out some days later to applaud him that he is proud of having him in d team despite the criticism….that is how the coaching job should be…there is no leader that is free of criticism..ask Mr president he will tell u that…..U can’t be a good leader when u re proud and arrogant….keshi shld leave us for good after the remaining two matches…we want a coach that will use our best legs to execute matches….if not for d voice of d masses IK Uche will not be in this team….He would rather prefer not to qualify as than to swallow his pride….I keep asking since there is no creative mid fielder in that team why is he not inviting Kelechi or Haruna?…..There is God ooooooo

KESHI was sacked but the presidency brought him back, and Keshi sacked lawal but who is gonna bring him back..?..you know what the truth is..?..it’s either Keshi is back and pin Nick stay in office or he refuse Keshi and Giwa take his place but we all know he will like to stay in office so he’s got no option really, you people should go and ask westerhof and he wI’ll tell u the real reason why Keshi is called The BIG BOSS….lol

      @Saint Palmer
continue to deceive yourself. I like Keshi but if Keshi fails to beat Congo and South Africa in November, he will loose his job as Super Eagles coach. Danagogo is a reasonable man. He will realize the it is the end of the road for Keshi. If Keshi tries to remain by any means necesssary, Keshi’s safety cannot be guaranteed in Nigeria. Support for the super eagle will be eroded. Keeping Keshi as coach will not make sense. No Coach of Nigeria can survive non-qualification for the Nations Cup.

With the way the eagles are playing now under Keshi it is actually possible for the eagles to loose both those games.
