League Cup Final: Courtois Bracing Up To Stop Kane

Chelsea goalkeeper Thibaut Courtois insists he knows how to stop Tottenham striker Harry Kane ahead of the League Cup final on Sunday.

The Spurs star has been in scintillating form in 2014-15, scoring 24 goals in all competitions, and will be out to add to his personal tally against the Blues goalkeeper at Wembley.

Kane scored twice against the Belgian on New Year’s Day, as Spurs ran out 5-3 winners over Jose Mourinho’s men at White Hart Lane in the Premier League, but Courtois believes he can stop the 21-year-old at the second attempt this weekend.

“Yeah, I know it, but I don’t have to say it now,” he told The Telegraph when asked if he knew Kane’s technique. “You try and analyse what teams and strikers are like more and more by watching videos.

“But football is football and every game is different. Every time they come in front of you it can be different.”

However, Courtois remains relaxed about the possibility of starting this weekend’s final, having featured just twice in the competition to date.

“I’m never nervous [about the decision]. If you play, you have to do your best. You have to be prepared to play, even if you end up not starting.

“Something can happen really fast in the game and you have to be ready to come on and play. You have to be ready even if you are on the bench. You have to be ready always. On Sunday, it’s a final and anything can happen.”
