By James Agberebi:
Hibernian manager, Neil Lennon, has stated that Nigerian defender, Efe Ambrose, has proved his doubters in Europe and Nigeria wrong following his impressive performances for the Scottish Championship leaders, Completesportsnigeria.com reports.
Ambrose joined Hibernian on an emergency loan until the end of the season after being frozen out of Celtic where he hadn’t featured since last July.
Since reuniting with Lennon, who was his manager at Celtic, Ambrose has been one of the standout players for Hibernian and scored in their 2-1 win over Falkirk on Saturday.
Commenting on Ambrose's resurgent form, Lennon described the 2013 AFCON winner as a class player and expressed personal delight for bringing him to Hibernian.
“You could see what it means to him to be back playing football and the Hibs public have seen what a class player he is," Lennon told Edinburgh News.
“Efe isn’t a bona-fide right-back, but I can trust in him that position. As a centre half, he has been superb. It’s been good for both parties and excellent for Efe to get his profile back in a positive manner.
“He’s shown the people of Scotland, Britain, Europe and back home in Nigeria what a class act he is. It’s been a great bit of business and he’s really enjoying the moment.”
Meanwhile, Hibernian continued to celebrate their man of the moment – Efe Ambrose, by featuring him on the cover of their Wednesday's Championship match programme against Greenock Morton (pictured above), and advertised on their social media platforms on Tuesday.
"Issue 21 of the Hibernian FC Programme, sponsored by Belmont, features defender Efe Ambrose on the cover, with his featured interview the centrepiece of the programme for the fixture against Greenock Morton," Hibernian Media said of the latest edition of their match day programme.
"…In this week’s edition, Efe Ambrose talks about playing for Hibernian, working with Neil Lennon again, summersaults and the importance of winning all three points on Wednesday evening…"
