Brazilian playmaker Philippe Coutinho has submitted a formal transfer request to the club, according to various reports.
Coutinho is trying to force a move to Barcelona who have had two bids, the latest €100m, for the player turned down by Liverpool.
Reds manager Jurgen Klopp and Liverpool owners the Fenway Sports Group both on Friday insisted that Coutinho would not be sold at any price.
However, various outlets, including the BBC and Sky Sports are reporting that the player has formally asked the club he wants to leave by submitting a transfer request.
Coutinho, who joined Liverpool from Inter Milan in 2013 for around £9m, has been ruled out of the Reds’ opening Premier League fixture against Watford on Saturday with an injury.
