Libya head coach Omar Al-Marimi has stated that his side must improve when they face the Home Eagles in their second group game on Friday at the ongoing 2018 African Nations Championship (CHAN) in Morocco, Completesportsnigeria.com (CSN) reports.
Libya got off to a flying start in the competition by defeating debutantes Equatorial Guinea in their opening 2018 CHAN Group C match 3-0 in Tangier on Monday.
Al Ahli Tripoli striker Saleh Taher scored a first half brace in the space of six minutes as Libya went into the break with a 2-0 advantage. Taher’s club mate Al Lafee Zakaria sealed the victory with a third goal with six minutes left to play.
“The same focus we had preparing for Equatorial Guinea is what we will use for our next two opponents (Home Eagles of Nigeria and Rwanda) because they are good sides,” Al-Marimi said during the post-match interview after his side’s win on Monday.
“Also, we would work on sustaining pressure all through and not withdraw at some point like we saw today.”
The Mediterranean Knights won CHAN in 2014 and will face the Home Eagles of Nigeria on Friday in their next game before their final group game against Rwanda.
Libya lead Group C with three points after first round of matches. Nigeria and Rwanda are joint second after both played out a goalless draw, while Equatorial Guinea are fourth.
