Liverpool and Chelsea are battling it out to sign midfield starlet Julian Brandta midfield starlet from Bayer Leverkusen.
According to The Mirror, the Premier League giants have both sent out scouts to report on Julian Brandt but Liverpool boss Brendan Rodgers is one step ahead of his rivals and has gone out to see him in action himself.
The 18-year-old scored for Leverkusen in their 4-2 victory against Hertha Berlin but has only made two appearances for his club this season.
He is rated as one of Bundesliga’s hottest prospects after breaking through to the first team last February and he has since been capped for Germany at Under-19 level before playing a key role in his side winning the Uefa Under-19 Championship this summer.
The Reds were first alerted about the German’s talent at the European Under-19 Championships in Hungary where he was very impressive.
The Merseyside club are not alone in hunting for the 18-year-old signature however with Chelsea also long-term admirers of the former Wolfsburg trainee.
