Lokosa “Overjoyed” By Super Eagles Call-Up, In Bulgaria For ‘Medicals’

Richard Jideaka, Abuja:

Nigeria Professional Football League hotshot Junior Lokosa is overwhelmed by his invitation to the Super Eagles for the 2018 World Cup in Russia, chairman of Kani Pillars FC, Alhaji Muhammad Tukur Babangida, has revealed.

Babangida told Completesportsnigeria.com that Lokosa who arrived in Sofia, the Bulgarian capital city on Tuesday, was overjoyed when the news of his call-up to national team reached him through his agent

“Lokosa is overjoyed at his invitation and he has expressed gratitude to the coach for including him in the 30-man provisional list for the World Cup. He also promised to try his best to convince the coach that he is good for the World Cup,” Babangida stated.

The Kano Pillars boss further disclosed that Lokosa, who has scored 18 goals in the NPFL this season, will undergo medicals with his unnamed new outfit and return to the country by May 20, adding that the striker is not on trial as being reported in the media.

“He (Lokosa) is not on trial but has only gone to do his medicals and if he succeeds, the club will come down to Kano to sign the necessary papers for his transfer. We’ll miss him if he finally goes; he has been fantastic for Pillars this season,” Babangida told CSN.

On the choice of Bulgaria for Lokosa, the former Kano director of sports said: “We had several offers for him from USM Algiers, Al Hilal of Sudan, a Libyan club, a Tunisian side a team from Serbia but the Bulgarian offer was better and he chose that.”

Pls let the season end before leaves why the rush only in Nigerian league they valued money over time and accolade… Pls let him break the goal record before he leaves

    • And that also gives him better opportunity to sign for a better club. These boys don’t have good advisers, hmmm

Why does our players always seek greener pastures during their breakthrough season in NPFL?

This guy can still get a better offer after world cup nah?

    • Ayphillydegreat 6 days ago

Which WorldCup? You think he can displace anyone in that attack?

Take a chance whenever it comes your way. This is football. Look at what is happening to a guy who ran to Egypt, Again, look at those who went to South Africa, Sudan, North Africa., they all marooned over there and never get to see the golden era. Young men, go to Europe where there is MONEY, M O N E Y . Money talks. You never regret it. Believe me.

I am so surprised at this news, he cannot even wait till they season, how can our league develope or have quality players, when anyone who plays well in the season, the next thing you hear is that the player has gone abroad to ply his trade, if the right things are not done, our local teams will never do well at CAF competitions

All these guys castigating this Lokosa Junior are not fair to him. Two things are happening here. Plateau United and all Nigerian clubs are looking for such players and make their money. That is their policy. So don’t blame the players yet. If you bring the € or $ or pounds and then change it to the poor Naira, see Mooney!!!! On the part of the player, he is going to improve his play apart from the money. Better field, better gymnasium, better coaching staff, better medical attention. So what are you not talking. Happy for the guy if he moves to Europe.

Definitely, he will go to Europe, but at least, he should have waited for the season to end. It will be great to help his team win the League and also break the goal record of Nigeria. Thereby attracting more interests from better club at a higher value. Abi is it not the patient dog that eats the fattest bone.

Even Ahmed Musa some years ago held the highest goal ever in NPFL with Kano pillars before Mfom Udoh broke it. Today he is still very relevant both in Europe and country. I wish him well all the same.

So unprofessional, is the league on break?
Why is he in an hurry to go to Bulgaria?
Why not just get a good manager and go to a better league where u will be seen and develope well.

  • my man, grap your opportunitty with two hands and hold it tight,if Nigerian league want quality players in their league they can as well go and buy

Mfon Udoh failed to take such opportunity in the past and we speak, he’s still right here in the NPFL wallowing in regret. Junior Lokosa has taken the best decision ever,

  • Hello from Bulgaria,If you check Ludogorets history you will see that he is coming to very well structured team with outstanding training facilities and stadium (7 times in a row chapmions and with good stats in champions league). They will be seeded for all stages for Champions league draw and probably will get the group stage for 3-rd time last 4 years. So if Lokosa show good form probably will be sold in top team in Europe.
