Lovren: Croatia Will Go For Victory Against Iceland, We Want Nine Points

Croatia defender Dejan Lovren has declared that the Vatreni will target a win in their last group game against Iceland at the Russia 2018 FIFA World Cup on Tuesday.

Croatia are already through to the round of 16 of the competition after recording wins over Nigeria and Argentina in their opening two Group D games but Lovren states they are aiming to win the group with nine points.

Lovren who has helped Croatia keep two clean sheets at the tournament also praised his coach Zlatko Dalic.

“Coach (Zlatko) Dalic has created an excellent atmosphere around the team,” Liverpool star Lovren said during a press conference in Roshchino

“He knows how to communicate with us individually. Everything is great and we just have to continue. The game against Iceland? Our goal is clear: complete the group stage with nine points.”

Croatia have won four of their last six games against Iceland, losing one and drawing one.

Meanwhile, Croatia will have one more training session in their Roshchino camp near Saint Petesburg today (Sunday) before flying to Rostov-on-Don this afternoon for their clash against Iceland, according to a report on FIFA.
A win for Croatia or a draw will eliminate Iceland and send Nigeria through if the Super Eagles get a draw against Argentina.
